Located in a stunning hill-top position near the traditional village of Tsivaras, Villa Oneiro offers unrivalled privacy and seclusion, and yet it remains only a short drive from Kalives, Vamos or Almirida, where you can make use of the full range of amenities on offer. . Situated on a beautiful hill-top and standing within its own private grounds of 12,000m² you will be shielded from the eyes of passers-by. Suitable for families, or a small group of five people, this traditional cottage is only 5 minutes from the blue flagged beach at Almirida and the same distance from the municipal centre of Vamos which has many tavernas, shops and kafenion.

Accommodation

Villa Oneiro is a charming cottage, designed with privacy and relaxation in mind. The owners, with the help of many local craftsmen, have sympathetically maintained the traditional style of architecture in keeping with this Cretan village, in an effort to change the standard of tourist accommodation in the area.

The driveway leads you to the ample parking area to the side of the cottage. On the locally tiled, ground floor you will find a roomy, fully equipped kitchen and dining room  which will make the occasional meal at home a pleasure.  The spacious living area with fireplace has a traditional ambience with local, simple, wooden furniture and décor. From the ground floor there are two, wooden staircases at fairly steep inclines leading up to the two good sized bedrooms, one with a double bed the other with two singles, but comfortably sleeping 5 guests.  In these rooms are wooden floors and sloped, wooden ceilings to help keep the rooms cool with extra air circulation. There is  a modern bathroom, and for relief on those hot, balmy summer nights there are air-conditioning units in the cottage, these also double up as heaters for the cooler nights early and late season.

The majority of nearly 3 acres of garden has been left completely natural with rocks, olive and almond trees. From a large, covered veranda at the back of the house are stone stairs, surrounded with mature trailing ice plants over the rockery, down to the private swimming pool area laid with local stone paving.  With assorted sun loungers, umbrellas and shady trees, this is a perfect place to spend lazy days sun bathing in the privacy of the grounds.  There is an outdoor shower, and the majority of the pool area is surrounded by a low stone wall and fencing.  Near the pool area you will find a vegetable garden where you can pick your own truly, fresh, organic produce.  You can later put this to good use when lighting up the BBQ in the attached BBQ area, watching the sun go down over the Mediterranean Sea with a chilled glass of local krassi wine.

Location

The small, quiet and unspoilt village of Tsivaras has few local amenities.  However, the Villa is ideally placed between the beaches of Almirida and Kalives and the working town of Vamos.  Just minutes by car to the lovely village of Almirida which is built around a crescent shaped sandy beach. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are many excellent tavernas, cafes and shops. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans.  Kalives has a longer, wider stretch of sandy beach with deeper waters, with slightly more current than Almyrida.  For the shoppers amongst you, there is a wider selection of shops including clothes, shoes, jewelers and the usual tourist items.  There are also a wider selection of taverna's and cafes, Kalives having a more energetic air about it than the laid back Almyrida. For a truly working Greek town, visit Vamos which has the local council offices, post office, health centre, main school and bus station and some very good, traditional, vine-shaded places to eat in the evening if you wish to escape the hubbub of the beach resorts.  For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 45 minutes away by car.
