Villa Didimos (greek for twins) has been designed and furnished in 2008 by twin brothers from Holland, and their modern, stylish taste is reflected in every last detail. Built to the very highest specification, as you enter between the stone columns, set with sleek silver swans, cross the large driveway bordered by flower beds and locally quarried stone boundary walls for privacy, initially the house looks unimposing with pale feature stone against the warm clotted cream painted walls. But as you step into the house, and gaze through the lounge and dining area out of the large patio doors, across the infinity swimming pool with the Jacuzzi tub set to the side, the breathtaking myriad shades of blue of the Mediterranean sea blending into the sky laid completely unobstructed before you, you will discover just one of the hidden treasures of Didimos.

Decorated throughout with light, pale cream walls and tiled floors, with an accent palette in browns and splashes of red, every piece of furniture, every fixture and fitting in Villa Didimos is of the highest standard and provided to ensure a truly indulgent, luxurious experience. All windows and patio doors have fly screens and shutters. The lounge and bedrooms are air-conditioned. Each bedroom has an en-suite bedroom and not one, but 2 private balconies each. For the energetic amongst you, enjoy the private outdoor gym, or cook al fresco in the outdoor kitchen area. Adjust the electronic beds to your personal preference as you watch your flat screen LCD TV in each bedroom and then choose between the indoor or outdoor Jacuzzi tubs.

If you are looking to spoil yourselves this holiday, Villa Didimos provides every modern comfort you can imagine surrounded by the stunning Cretan scenery and just a 10 minute walk to the tavernas and cafes or a few minutes drive to the beach.

Accommodation

Ground floor

Entering directly into the lounge from the dark brown, aluminium front door you look directly ahead, through the lounge and dining area out to the swimming pool and terrace. To your right is a comfortable 'L' shaped sofa in dark brown with contrasting red throw cushions. The sofa converts to a double bed for extra sleeping. 2 matching arm chairs are arranged around the light wood coffee table, and to the side of the sofa is a red occasional table with a CD/MP3 music centre and a selection of CDs. To the left of the front door is a striking matching red wall unit displaying a variety of glasses and dining accoutrements. On the opposite wall is a flat screen LCD 32" television with DVD player and a choice of DVDs, Satellite television is available on every TV in the house. There is an air conditioning unit and the elegant, long slim line windows in the lounge and dining area are a decorative feature in themselves.

The walnut coloured wooden dining table and 6 matching chairs are arranged by the large patio doors leading to the shady terrace and pool area, giving you the choice of indoor or outdoor dining. A modern steel light with diamante droplets hangs above the table.

Between the lounge and dining area, to the left, the small hallway to the kitchen and stairs has the 2nd set of wide patio doors leading to the pool, giving convenient access from the garden to the cloakroom located to the side of the stairs leading to the 1st floor. As with the rest of the villa, the WC has been cleverly designed to make best use of  compact space and is fully tiled in oversized, earthen stone style tiles with modern WC, hand basin with vanity unit and mirror, in white. The accessories are stainless steel. The frosted window faces out to the driveway.

Through the hall you come to the large, fully equipped kitchen. The 3rd set of patio doors to the garden is to your right. The room has warm, cream walls, wall and floor tiles and work surfaces creating a bright, light area with contrasting base and wall units in dark brown wood effect. The units have soft closing drawers, wide stainless steel handles and matching utensils, and a feature opaque glass fronted cabinet. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need including integrated dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge freezer, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, wine rack and microwave. Look closely at the side of one of the units and you will discover 4 charming miniature mechanical music mechanisms.

Pool & Garden

The cream tiled terrace running the width of the house is bordered by large flower beds. Down 3 shallow steps is the lower terrace surrounding the infinity pool which drops away to the garden area below, left as natural. To the right is open countryside, and below the pool are olive groves and country side with stunning un-interrupted views of the sea. To the left of the terrace is one other house, however the 1 mtr stone wall affords privacy. To the left of the swimming pool is a Jacuzzi tub where you can enjoy a chilled glass of champagne amongst the bubbles as you watch the sky turn orange, red then pink as the sun sets over the Akrotiri and the lights of the villages below start to twinkle like the stars in the inky sky above. To the very right of the house, behind the pool, is a large, covered, outdoor ktichen with a brick built bbq, fridge, sink, wine cooler and even a dartboard for a quick game as you wait for your souvlaki to cook. Assorted garden furniture and sun loungers, including 3 miniature brightly coloured wooden chairs for children provide plenty of options for lazing by the pool. From the upper terrace on either side of the house a path leads to the driveway.

First floor (16 stairs with a hand rail on your right) - Bedrooms

Directly on the back wall at the top of the stairs is a large window. To the right is the master bedroom. A mirror hangs on the wall to the left;  the luxurious en-suite bathroom is to the right of the room. The beds, which are designed to be used as two singles or one double, have individual electronic controls to lift your feet or head, ideal for watching the flat screen LCD TV mounted on the wall opposite in maximum comfort. Two matching white bedside tables have neat lime green reading lamps, and there is a large wardrobe with ample space for your clothes. Both bedrooms have air con units for those hot summer nights or for warmth in the cooler winter evenings. To the left of the bed are patio doors, with cream curtains, leading to a small, curved Juliet balcony overlooking the pool and the sea, perfect for your early morning cup of coffee. To the right of the bed is the second larger balcony, partially covered and screened by bamboo for privacy and should you feel energetic has gym equipment, including an exercise bike, step machine, stand up vibrating balance machine and sit up bar. Enjoy a freshly squeezed orange juice after your work out at the large table and chairs and enjoy the views of the sea.

The en-suite bathroom is extremely spacious. With the oversized earthen style tiles, WC, beautiful square hand basin and vanity unity with matching mirror, large curved Jaccuzi bath and separate shower with power shower features it is truly luxurious. The frosted window facing the front of the house and the modern stainless steel lights to match the accessories give this a modern yet uncluttered feel.

The second bedroom on the other side of the hall is slightly smaller than the master bedroom, but has the same electronically controlled beds, one bedside table, large wardrobe and two private balconies, one overlooking the pool and garden and the larger balcony facing the front of the house. It also has a wall mounted flat screen LCD TV connected to the satellite, and the en-suite bathroom is decorated in the same style as the master en-suite bathroom, but has a spacious shower rather than bath tub.

The house is situated in the middle of 1000 square metres of private land. Additional water storage has been provided for the occasional water cut and solar panels provide hot water.

With Didimos, the brothers have created a stylish, bright and modern villa for a truly indulgent, spoil-yourself experience.

Location

The village of Plaka has many amenities including a well stocked supermarket, hairdresser and petrol station. The village square itself is charming, with several traditional style tavernas and cafes to enjoy an evening meal or after dinner coffee in walking distance to Didimos. Wander around the village of  Kokkino Horio used in the film "Zorba the Greek" with many of the village houses unchanged or visit  the famous glass blowing workshop. Here you can watch recycled glass being blown in the traditional manner into amazingly beautiful products including lampshades, ornaments, decanters, plates and bowls. Just minutes by car is the lovely village of Almyrida which is built around a crescent shaped sandy beach. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach you find a good selection of tavernas, cafes and shops. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania with its beautiful venetian harbor and old town is only 30 minutes away by car.

These prices include a free Welcome Present and a free copy of the Guide Book "Apokoronas Local Explorer."

On request we will be happy to deliver a welcome basket to the villa at 40.00 Euro extra.

All services and the use of air conditioning and other equipment (as advertised) are included in the weekly rental rates shown on this web site. Children are most welcome in all our properties and we provide a free High Chair and Cot loan service but, we do ask that children are supervised at all times whilst around and in the swimming pool.
